Boo, bitches! It’s that time of year again; the season of pumpkin spice lattes, sexy costumes, and spooky vibes. While we’re all out having fun, it’s also important to keep safety in mind and make sure you’re looking fierce while doing it. So, here’s the ultimate guide for all you sassy freaks and goblin babes out there for surviving Halloween, with just a side of the safety and beauty tips that’ll help you slay the night away!
First off, make sure your outfit is comfortable. I don’t care how good it looks; there are way too many fun and sexy alternatives for you to pick out scratchy fabrics with heavy costume getups. It will slow you down and kill your buzz, so stick to light fabrics and skip the extra adornments. Since most Halloween festivities happen after sundown, make sure your costume has some glowy bits or add reflective tape to stay lit, literally. Plus, throw in a cute flashlight or glow sticks to shine even brighter, and make sure you don’t lose your friends. Also, team up with your girls before and have a game plan for reconnecting if someone gets lost. There’s safety in numbers, and no one wants to be that white girl wasted friend everyone has to search for all night that kills everyone’s buzz.
My theme for this year’s Halloween looks will be SEXY vs. SLUTTY. Whatever you decide to put on your body or not put on, carry yourself with confidence, and DO NOT slut shame girls for choosing to dress how they want.
The objective of Halloween is usually to wear as little clothing as possible to produce the most sex appeal. You can push your boobs up to the skies and wear thigh highs as if they make up for the rest of your body being out, or you can pick one or two elements to share to remain a classy hoe.
So, if you’re wearing a short skirt, try long sleeves or a high neck. It’s your body, so the choice is yours. I suggest balancing your outfit to make you feel sexy while leaving something to the imagination and emphasizing the best bits to make it even more sexy without trying. Chic!
Get your Face Card Right
Start with a fresh, moisturized face as your canvas. And when the party’s over, wipe off that masterpiece to prevent any post-Halloween breakouts that have you looking like a real goblin. To keep your makeup looking good all night, use a primer before you apply foundation or eyeshadow. Don’t forget setting sprays – they’re your secret weapon to keeping your look locked.
Whether you decide to top your look off with a wig or your own hair, choose products that won’t wreck your tresses. Temporary hair color or spray can give you a bold look that’s easy to wash out when the party’s over, but honestly, I’m going with a good wig. If there is ever a perfect excuse to wear your first wig and experiment, it’s all hallows eve!
Outfit Inspo for the Gal on the Go
Barbie
Of course, there will be a lot of Barbies this year, but she has had so many careers that you can do ANYTHING with this costume. Be old-school swimsuit Barbie, torch singer Barbie, ’80s minidress Barbie, rock star Barbie … the sky is literally the limit! I would pair this classic glam look with a strong winged eyeliner, pink eyeshadow, and, duh, a bold pink lip.
Jessica Rabbit
Hit up the thrift store for a long red dress and give it a slit up the leg if it doesn’t have one already. Find long purple gloves or dye some white ones with RIT dye. Jessica Rabbit is a HUGE turn-on for many people, but she’s sexy in the way of Old Hollywood. Since fabulous red hair is the centerpiece, this is where your wig will come in handy, paired with full lips as the icing on the sexy rabbit carrot cake.
Pin Up Girl
This option is more relaxed, snd features elements you might already have, and will definitely wear again. Get a knee-length tight pencil skirt and a snug sweater, curl your hair, and do a cat eye and a red lip. Go nautical. Add feathers and go burlesque. Show off your curves without showing a lot of skin.
Princess Peach
This might sound random, but it’s guaranteed to get you laid by gamer boys—just sayin.
Butterfly Queen/ Fairy
Butterfly temporary tattoos, a Butterfly headband, and something with netting, like a tutu or a cute Tinkerbell slip dress are all you need to pull this girly look together on the double.
Safety Queen
I don’t want to be all Debbie downer, but the realistic, seasoned partier in me doesn’t want to chance it; this party list is to skip the what-ifs and be prepared with some safety essentials to make you stand a little taller.
Drink tabs like the Test My Drink Kit
This kit includes 20 test strips (two tests per strip) that detect the presence of GHB and Ketamine in alcoholic beverages. They’re affordable ($15.60 on Amazon), small enough to slip in your clutch, and super user-friendly. Use the test strip to check your drink by placing a drop of your beverage onto both spots of one test. Smear each gently and wait until dry. A substance has been detected if either spot turns dark blue.
If you’re more about prevention, you can also find a cover scrunchie to put over your drinks.
This really cute Key chain pepper spray for is small enough to fit in your clutch.
HAVE FUN!
Remember, Halloween is supposed to be fun and carefree, so if you want to phone it in and make some fake blood and scars, then throw on your worst clothing so you can show up and drink, go for it! Here are a few recipes you can make at home and pull off a zombie chic lewk.
Fake Blood
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon red food coloring
A few drops of blue food coloring
Instructions:
Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a paste.
Add the red food coloring and stir until you achieve a bright red color.
To darken the blood, add a few drops of blue food coloring and mix well
Adjust the color to your liking by adding more red or blue food coloring as needed.
This fake blood is edible so you can use it for creepy effects in your mouth as well.
Fake Scars
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon gelatin
1 tablespoon glycerin
1-2 drops of red food coloring
Cocoa powder (optional, for coloring)
Instructions:
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the gelatin and glycerin. Stir until well mixed.
Add 1-2 drops of red food coloring to create a flesh-like base color for the scar. To add depth, you can mix in a small amount of cocoa powder to create a darker shade.
Heat the mixture in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds until it becomes a liquid. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before applying it to your skin.
Using a makeup brush or your fingers, apply the mixture to your skin in the shape of a scar.
Let it partially dry, and then use a toothpick or a makeup brush to create texture by gently pulling and dragging the mixture.
Once it’s fully dry, you can use makeup to add more depth and color to the scar, making it look more realistic.
Happy Halloween, Witches!
